Chapter I
Her story.

Aloha mai kākou!
Whether we’ve already met or this is our first connection, I’d like to take this opportunity to share a little about myself.
My name is Lissa Paresa, born and raised in the beautiful town of Hilo. From a young age through my late 20s, I danced hula under the guidance of the late Uncle Johnny Lum Ho (UJ). I’m deeply honored to have been the first dancer to hold both the titles of Miss Keiki Hula and Miss Aloha Hula. This entire chapter of my life helped to shape who I am today in terms of discipline, love for others and our community, the importance of movement, and most importantly, it was when I met God. I’m ever grateful and honor UJ for nurturing me as my foundation was being built.
As expected, life shifted when I became a wife and mother to five children. My days were filled with keeping up with five active little ones (twins included!), and somewhere along the way, I put myself on the back burner for a time.
After experiencing perimenopause, I knew it was time to reconnect with myself. I began taking fitness classes, eventually earning certifications in TRX and XY group training. Then I discovered strength training, and haven’t looked back since. It’s given me the strength and energy to still do many of the things I loved decades ago, and I truly feel like I’m thriving.
Along the way, I briefly stepped into the world of bodybuilding and earned gold along with other medals. While I’m grateful for the experience, it wasn’t where my passion lives. Hence, at Mauliola, competition isn’t the focus or end all, living well is.
Here, we believe in being pono, having balance. Health is not about extremes or quick fixes, but about creating sustainable habits that support a strong, fulfilling life. Every person carries their own story, and I will honor that by guiding you with intention, consistency, and a deep respect for your individual journey, never a one-size-fits-all approach. At Mauliola, we meet you where you are, with guidance, support, and a commitment to your long-term success.
Aloha nō, me ka pōmaikaʻi,
Lissa
What she believes
Three things, said plainly.
- 01
“Training is a practice, not a program.”
Programs end. Practices keep going. We build something you stay with.
- 02
“The body is the doorway. The work is whole.”
We do not separate the strength of the back from the steadiness of the mind.
- 03
“We rise together.”
Six bodies in one room. The room is the medicine. We show up for each other and thrive together.
